X is for X-rays. In her Presidential Address, Margaret will trace the history of the X-ray technique that has developed over the last 115 years. Examples will be given of how X-ray analysis meets the demands of the glass community today helping to ensure quality in the manufacturing process and assisting in the conservation and restoration of our glass heritage.
Margaret West is an Analytical Chemist with experience in industrial and academic applications of X-ray spectrometry especially in glass manufacturing and its associated raw materials industry. She is recognised internationally for the development, application and training of X-ray analytical techniques and works with a number of learned societies to further the interests of the analytical community. As Immediate Past President of the SGT, Margaret is developing her interests in conservation and restoration to ensure science brings the past into our future.
