The workshop will be essentially practically based and will be a brief introduction to the fracture analysis of glass. It will consist of identifying some fracture markings on individual broken surfaces. This will be followed by the interpretation of overall breakage patterns leading to the determination of the cause of failure of items of glass. Students will have the opportunity of examining actual case histories involving bottles and flat glass.
